Sandra Sequeira

Dr. Sandra Sequeira is an Associate Professor in Development Economics at the London School of Economics' Department of International Development. She holds research affiliations with STICERD, CEPR, Novafrica, and the International Growth Centre. Her academic credentials include a PhD from Harvard University, MA from the Fletcher School, and BA from Universidade Nova in Lisbon, Portugal.

Her research focuses on development economics, political economy, trade, and consumer behavior, with regional expertise in Sub-Saharan Africa. Specific interests include corporate social responsibility, corruption dynamics, fair trade systems, private sector development, program evaluation methodologies, and transport infrastructure impacts. Her work combines microeconomic analysis with field experiments to examine how institutional frameworks affect economic behavior in developing contexts.

Sequeira's publications demonstrate a consistent focus on how economic shocks and policy interventions affect vulnerable populations. Her recent work explores climate vulnerability, forced displacement, labor market inefficiencies, and gender disparities in economic outcomes.
