Sandra Czernek

Sandra Czernek is a Lecturer in History at West Liberty University, affiliated with the College of Liberal and Creative Arts and the Department of Humanities and Social Sciences. She has been teaching at West Liberty University since 2000 and previously taught at West Virginia Northern Community College from 1998 to 2004.

Degrees:

• M.A. in History, West Virginia University (1976)

Research Interests: Sandra specializes in Civil War studies, Abraham Lincoln, Appalachian History, and World War I. Her teaching focuses on integrating these areas into World Civilizations, U.S. History, and WV & Appalachian History courses.

Scientific Awards:

• West Liberty University Professor of the Year (2010–2011)
• West Liberty University Professor of the Year (2013–2014)

Professional Activities: She contributed to the Betty Zane documentary (WV Humanities Council, 2015), presented at the Appalachian Studies Conference (2014), and participated in the National Council for History Education (2009). She is a member of the Appalachian Studies Association, National Council for History Education, and the Organization of American Historians.
