Sandra Becker

Sandra Becker is an Assistant Professor in Media and Performance Studies at Utrecht University's Faculty of Humanities. She specializes in intersections of Cultural Studies, Television and Film Studies, and Gender Studies, with a focus on on- and off-screen representation of gender and diversity in audiovisual fiction production during the VoD streaming era.

• Current research: Gender dynamics in television fiction, racial capitalism in media, and transnational reception studies

Her teaching includes seminars on U.S. television and film, Mexican audiovisual landscapes, masculinity portrayals in Latin American film, and guest lectures on gender representation in television. She recently presented research on television's lasting impact on VoD and YouTube's business strategies at the ECREA 2022 conference.
