About
Professor Sandie McCarthy is jointly appointed as Professor of Clinical Nursing at the University of Queensland and Mater Health Services. Her research focuses on two primary streams: long-term outcomes of cancer treatments using mixed methods, and collaborative interventions to manage toxicities of acute cancer therapies. She specializes in women's wellness during and after breast cancer therapy.
Her research program investigates multimodal interventions (diet, exercise, sleep and stress management) to enhance cancer patient outcomes. Key areas include chemotherapy toxicity management, breast cancer rehabilitation, and telehealth interventions for gynecological cancer survivors.
Recent publications demonstrate a focus on exercise oncology, economic evaluations of cancer interventions, and nurse-led cancer research. Her work emphasizes practical applications that have translated into clinical practice improvements across oncology care settings.
