Dr. Sandhya L. Kumar is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Family and Social Medicine at Albert Einstein College of Medicine. She serves as Director of Homeless Healthcare Curriculum and Assistant Program Director for Curriculum Development in the family medicine residency program at Montefiore Medical Center. Her clinical work focuses on primary care services for populations in domestic violence, family, and adult shelters through collaborations with the Bronx Health Collective and Care for the Homeless.
Dr. Kumar graduated from the University of Alabama School of Medicine, completed dual residencies in Family & Social Medicine and Preventive Medicine at Montefiore Medical Center, and earned a Master of Public Health from CUNY Graduate School of Public Health & Health Policy. Her research interests emphasize homeless healthcare systems, preventive medicine, and social determinants of health.
