Sandeep R. Pagali

Sandeep R. Pagali, M.D., M.P.H., is an Associate Professor of Medicine at Mayo Clinic College of Medicine, serving as a Consultant in both the Division of Hospital Internal Medicine and the Section of Geriatric Medicine and Gerontology. He holds leadership positions including Associate Chair for Research in the Division of Hospital Internal Medicine and Chair of the Hospital Internal Medicine Geriatrics Committee.

Dr. Pagali's research focuses on improving care for hospitalized older adults, with particular expertise in delirium prediction and management, cognitive impairment, and deprescribing. He developed the Mayo Delirium Prediction (MDP) tool and investigates non-pharmacological interventions for dementia-related behaviors. His work spans geriatric medicine, hospital medicine, and quality improvement in acute care settings.

His significant contributions have been recognized with numerous awards including the Department of Medicine Laureate Award (2022), Senior Fellow in Hospital Medicine designation (2023), and AGS Fellowship (2022). Dr. Pagali is actively involved in medical education, teaching students, residents, and fellows, while maintaining leadership roles in multiple professional organizations including the Society of Hospital Medicine and American Geriatrics Society.
