Samuel TAN is a Full-time Assistant Professor of Accounting (Education) at the School of Accountancy (SOA), Singapore Management University (SMU). He joined the faculty in 2018 after earning a PhD and MS in Business Administration from UC Berkeley (2015–2018), an MSc in Statistics from NUS (2013), and double degrees in Accounting and Economics from SMU (2011).
His research bridges accounting with legal and social issues, focusing on corporate social responsibility, regulatory compliance, and the intersection of law firms with financial reporting practices. He has published in top journals like The Accounting Review and Journal of Accounting and Public Policy.
