Sammy Lopez (he/him) is an Associate Professor in the Department of Writing and Production for Musical Theater at Berklee College of Music, based at Berklee NYC. He is a theater-maker, producer, and educator dedicated to advancing equity and inclusion in theater. His work spans Broadway, Off-Broadway, West End, and youth theater initiatives.
His research and creative interests center on inclusive storytelling, musical theater production, and increasing BIPOC representation in commercial theater. He is deeply involved in theater for young audiences and adaptive storytelling, drawing from personal and cultural narratives. His work emphasizes community engagement and systemic change in the arts.
Sammy co-founded P3 Productions and The Industry Standard Group (TISG), both focused on diversifying theater leadership and production. He has been instrumental in developing and producing award-winning works such as A Strange Loop, How to Dance in Ohio, and ¡Corre, Abuelita, Corre!

As an educator and mentor, Sammy serves with Theatre Producers of Color (TPOC) and The Business of Broadway, supporting emerging talent. He also holds leadership roles on the boards of New 42, TYA/USA, The Broadway League, CO/LAB Theater Group, and The Autistic Theatremakers Alliance.
He is the Creative Producer at New York City Children's Theater, where he develops original works and adaptations for young audiences, including Fish in a Tree and The Word Collector.
