Samirah Al-Amrie is a tutor and lecturer at the Hochschule für Musik und Theater Rostock (HMT Rostock), where she teaches popular singing styles, improvisation, and vocal ensemble since the 2024 summer semester. She holds a teaching position in the Department of Pop and World Music.
Education: She studied Jazz/Pop Singing at the Hanns Eisler University of Music in Berlin and the Royal Swedish Academy of Music in Stockholm. Her artistic work spans world music, jazz, pop, electronic music, loop-based performance, and free improvisation, with a focus on music from oriental cultures and cross-disciplinary collaborations.
Research & Teaching: She develops psycho-integrated singing instruction (since 2010), combining vocal technique with individual psychological development. Since 2020, she designs curricula for digital music education (DAW: Ableton Live) as part of the Schleswig-Holstein 'Digital Soundscapes' project. She also leads mindfulness/meditation programs for vocalists.
Collaborations: Works with avant-garde projects like Kiel's 'plusminus4', the 'Kreative im Quartier Lohberg' association, and international artists (e.g., Marc Olivier Poingt, Ronnie Waldmann-Pelach). Featured in Arte's 'Moderne Ruinen' series and WDR's 'Musik ohne Fahrschein'. Performs at festivals including Moers Festival and Kunst am Kai (Lübeck).
Artistic Output: Released solo albums '2 fishes in the big big sea' and 'Miraloo-Loop Songs', leading her 'World Songs' project interpreting global folk traditions via handpan and loop technology.
