Sami Tayeb

Sami Tayeb is a Lecturer in American Culture Studies at Washington University in St. Louis and Clinical Research Coordinator at the Program in Occupational Therapy. He holds an M.A. in Middle East Studies from the American University of Beirut. His research focuses on political economy, the built environment in the Middle East, Western knowledge production, and the architecture of empire. He has lived and worked across Arab countries including Palestine, Jordan, Egypt, Lebanon, and Saudi Arabia.

His teaching includes a course titled Landscapes of US Power and Intervention: Critical Geographies of the Middle East. In clinical research, he coordinates studies on medication adherence and healthcare equity. Previously, he directed Middle East Books and More, a Washington, DC-based nonprofit bookstore.

His publications appear in Middle East Report and Washington Report on Middle East Affairs. His work bridges critical geographies with postcolonial analysis of urban development projects in contested regions.
