About
Sameh Elsaidi is an Assistant Professor of Chemistry at Illinois Institute of Technology's Lewis College of Science and Letters. He directs the Center of Separation Science and Sustainability (CSSS), conducting interdisciplinary research on functional porous materials, composites, and membranes for applications in energy, nuclear waste management, and environmental remediation.
His research focuses on engineered materials for gas separation (CO2, Xe, Kr), rare earth extraction, nuclear waste processing, and radiation-resistant materials. Recent work demonstrates innovative approaches to noble gas separation and carbon capture technologies.
Publications show specialization in metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) with recent expansion into electrocatalysis and industrial-scale separation processes. Work consistently addresses environmental challenges through advanced materials design.
Dr. Elsaidi organizes educational initiatives including the Midwest MOF Conference and high school summer camps, while maintaining collaborations with national laboratories.
