Samantha Seals

Dr. Samantha Seals is an Associate Professor in the Department of Mathematics and Statistics at the University of West Florida, part of the Hal Marcus College of Science and Engineering. She is based in Building 4, Room 344, and can be contacted at sseals@uwf.edu. She has been a faculty member since 2016, contributing to both research and teaching in biostatistics and statistical modeling.

Dr. Seals specializes in biostatistics with a focus on model specification in the analysis of spatially correlated outcomes, particularly under small sample conditions. Her research examines the consequences of misspecifying covariance structures in statistical models. She is also engaged in the design and analysis of clinical trials and studies related to cardiovascular disease epidemiology. In education, she emphasizes collaborative research training, mentoring students in all phases of research from study design to co-authoring manuscripts.

Her scientific achievements include receiving the Charles R. Katholi Distinguished Dissertation Award in 2013. She teaches courses such as STA4173 Biostatistics and STA5176 Statistical Modeling, covering topics in sampling theory, experimental design, and advanced statistical modeling.

Dr. Seals actively promotes student involvement in research and supports academic outreach through initiatives like the AMC 8 and AMC 10/12 competitions. She plays a key role in fostering a collaborative and applied learning environment within the department.
