Samantha Foley

Samantha Foley is an Associate Professor in the Department of Computer Science & Computer Engineering at the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse (UWL). Her research focuses on high-performance computing, scientific computing, and distributed computing, with contributions in parallel algorithms and educational technology. She holds a Ph.D. in Computer Science from Indiana University-Bloomington (2010), an M.S. from the same institution (2006), and a B.S. from SUNY Fredonia (2004).

Dr. Foley has taught courses such as CS441, CS364, and others. Her research includes developing tools like the OnRamp web-portal for teaching parallel computing and advancing genetic algorithms for route planning. She previously served as a Postdoctoral Research Associate at Oak Ridge National Laboratory (2010–2012).

Her work spans both technical innovation and education, including efforts to build K-12 computer science programs in rural areas. She advises the CODERS student organization and is affiliated with UWL's CS department. For advising or collaboration, she offers remote office hours via Calendly.
