About
Samaneh Farsijani, PhD, RD, is an Assistant Professor in Epidemiology at the University of Pittsburgh's Graduate School of Public Health. Specializing in chrononutrition and nutritional epidemiology, her research explores how dietary timing and protein distribution impact muscle health and longevity in aging populations.
As an NIH-funded investigator, she integrates gut microbiome analysis and omics technologies (metabolomics, transcriptomics) to advance precision nutrition frameworks. Her work has produced over 20 publications since 2013, with recent studies appearing in Clinical Nutrition, Aging Cell, and Journal of Nutrition.
Research trends show consistent focus on aging biology (2016-2025), microbiome-diet interactions (2023-2024), and muscle energetics (2024). She actively mentors public health students through curriculum development and research supervision, with mentees receiving national awards for their work.
