Sam Zeno Conedera, S.J. is an Assistant Professor of History at Saint Louis University's College of Arts and Sciences. His research bridges medieval military orders, early modern Catholicism, and Jesuit intellectual history. He holds a Ph.D. from UCLA (2009), M.A.P.R. from Fordham University (2012), S.T.B. from Gregorian University (2017), and B.A. from Saint Louis University (2002).
His work examines the intersection of religious institutions and power dynamics, with a focus on Castilian military orders and Jesuit theologians like Alfonso Salmerón. Recent scholarship includes exploring Ignatius of Loyola's crusading legacy and Pope Benedict XVI's theological frameworks.
