Sam Burgess

Sam Burgess is an affiliated researcher with the ARC Centre of Excellence for Coral Reef Studies at James Cook University, currently pursuing a post-doctoral fellowship at the University of Oxford. Her work focuses on coral reef ecosystems, geochemical ecology, and climate change impacts. She holds a PhD from The Australian National University (ANU) and an MSc from the University of Auckland, with undergraduate studies at the University of Adelaide.

Recent studies include DNA analysis of coral adaptation across glacial cycles and socioeconomic dimensions of climate vulnerability in tropical regions.

Key Contributions: Her postdoctoral research at Oxford builds on her PhD work analyzing high-latitude coral geochemistry. She has collaborated with South Australian Research and Development Institute (SARDI) and contributed to interdisciplinary projects linking ecological and human dimensions of coral reef systems.
