Salvatore Vitale is an Artistic Professor at Lucerne School of Design, Film and Art (HSLU), leading the Transmedia Storytelling programme. He holds a Fine Arts degree from Zurich University of the Arts (ZHdK). His work focuses on power structures, visual politics, and technology, employing expanded documentary methods and speculative storytelling.
- Recipient of Swiss Arts Council grants (2015–2016, 2020), PHmuseum Award (2017), and multiple international recognitions.
- Key projects include How to Secure a Country (2019), analyzing Swiss security mechanisms, and Death by GPS (2024), exploring algorithmic bias.
Research interests span contemporary photography, surveillance studies, and the intersection of art and technology. He co-founded YET magazine and directs EXPOSED Torino Foto Festival.
