Prof Sally Wyatt is a Professor of Digital Cultures and Associate Dean for Research at Maastricht University’s Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences. Her career spans academic roles at institutions like Sussex, Amsterdam, and the University of East London, alongside leadership in the Dutch Research School for Science, Technology and Modern Culture (WTMC). She holds a PhD in Science and Technology Studies from Maastricht University (1998), building on earlier studies in economics at McGill and Sussex.
Her research focuses on digital media’s societal impacts, including health informatics, AI ethics, and EU migration policies. She co-leads projects on AI in clinical decision-making (RAIDIO) and media recommender systems (TAIM).
Wyatt has supervised over a dozen PhD students, with notable grants from NWO, ERC, and the EU. She advises international bodies like the European Commission’s Science in Society program and chairs the NWO Permanent Committee for Large-Scale Research Infrastructure. Key awards include ERC starter grants for her students and recognition for interdisciplinary teaching.
