Sally Nurse is an Associate Professor and Academic Fieldwork Coordinator in the Division of Behavioral and Health Sciences at Indiana Wesleyan University (IWU), where she has served since October 2018. Her roles include overseeing the occupational therapy assistant program's fieldwork coordination and teaching responsibilities. Prior to IWU, she spent six years as a full-time faculty member and Academic Fieldwork Coordinator at Brown Mackie College. She holds a BS in Occupational Therapy from Eastern Kentucky University (1986) and an MS in Human Services from Argosy University (2014).
Her professional experience spans over 30 years as a generalist occupational therapy practitioner, working with diverse populations including pediatric/adolescent clients, adults with developmental disabilities, and geriatric patients across neurological, cardiac, pulmonary, orthopedic, and mental health conditions. Sally’s research interests focus on innovative teaching methodologies in functional anatomy, activity analysis, and occupational therapy media. She uniquely merges technology and artistic approaches in her practice, designing therapeutic wearable prints and faith-based merchandise through an online business.
In her personal life, Sally enjoys art, crafts, cooking, and spending time with her family, including two adult daughters and two dogs. She emphasizes collaboration in her academic work, having previously served as a fieldwork educator and actively contributing to the occupational therapy community through her dual expertise in clinical practice and creative pedagogy.
