Sally Bristow

Sally Bristow is a Lecturer in Nursing and Discipline Lead at the School of Health, Faculty of Medicine and Health, University of New England (UNE). She is actively engaged in academic leadership, serving as Chair of the School Education Committee, Member of the Faculty Education Committee, University Teaching and Learning Committee, and the University Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Employment Governance Committee. She collaborates closely with the Oorala Aboriginal Centre to support Indigenous student success through leadership programs and university engagement initiatives.

Her research interests center on improving healthcare outcomes in underserved populations, particularly in rural and remote areas. Key areas include child and family health, maternity care, chronic disease management, disability, and amplifying the consumer voice in healthcare systems. She is deeply committed to health equity and social justice in nursing education and practice.

Sally holds a PhD and multiple professional qualifications, including a Master of Nursing from the University of Technology Sydney, Graduate Diploma in Midwifery from the University of Newcastle, and Bachelor of Nursing from Australian Catholic University. She is a Registered Nurse and Registered Midwife, bringing clinical expertise to her academic role.

She is actively involved in university governance and educational development, contributing to policy and pedagogical strategies across UNE. Her work emphasizes inclusive education, Indigenous support, and community-centered healthcare models.

Sally maintains a presence through professional platforms including Google Scholar, ORCID, and LinkedIn, reflecting her engagement with the broader academic community. She is based at UNE's Armidale campus in Building C13, Room 216.
