Sakeena Everett is Assistant Professor of Curriculum and Instruction at University of Connecticut's Neag School of Education. Her scholarship centers on literacy development, justice-oriented pedagogies, and teacher education in urban contexts.
Research examines consequential literacy development for Black male students, culturally sustaining pedagogies, and transformative research methodologies. Current projects investigate grief support systems for Black women educators and decolonizing approaches to educational research.
Teaches courses in literacy education and urban education while providing professional development for K-12 educators. Research recognized by American Educational Research Association, National Council of Teachers of English, and Spencer Foundation.
