Sairam Parthasarathy

Sairam Parthasarathy, MD is a Professor in the Department of Medicine at the University of Arizona. He serves as Interim Chief of the Division of Pulmonary, Allergy, Critical Care and Sleep Medicine, Director of the Center for Sleep and Circadian Sciences at UA Health Sciences, and Medical Director of the Center for Sleep Disorders at Banner – University Medical Center Tucson.

Research Interests: His work focuses on sleep interventions in acute lung injury (ARDS/ALI), sleep-disordered breathing in chronic heart failure (ADVENT-HF), CPAP adherence programs for sleep apnea, and the effects of Johrei treatment in murine sleep deprivation models. Key areas include Sleep Medicine, Pulmonary Diseases, Critical Care, Cardiovascular Disorders, and Neurocognitive Development.

Clinical Trials: He leads trials like the Peer-Driven Intervention for Sleep Apnea (NCT02056002) and Sleep Intervention During Acute Lung Injury (NCT01050699), investigating adaptive servo ventilation (ASV) and peer-buddy CPAP adherence strategies.

Selected Publications include studies on neurodevelopmental impacts of sleep disturbances in children with Fontan circulation, neurocognitive impairment in congenital heart disease, and molecular links between sleep apnea and hypertension/stroke.
