Saeed Bagheri

Dr. Saeed Bagheri is a Lecturer in International Law at the University of Reading School of Law, concurrently serving as Director of Academic Tutoring (PGT). He holds a DPhil from Ankara University, an LLM from Tehran University, and a BA from Tabriz University. His research focuses on the law on the use of force, international humanitarian law, and post-conflict justice, with notable works including International Law and the War with Islamic State (2021). He has held postdoctoral fellowships at the European University Institute and University of Reading, and visiting roles at Cambridge, UCL, and Leiden University.

Recent scholarship has addressed Israel-Hamas war environmental impacts, Houthi-Yemen agreements, and ISIS repatriation challenges. His work features in leading journals like the International Review of the Red Cross and Israel Law Review.

Teaching: Leads modules on International Human Rights Law, Law of Armed Conflict, and Dissertation supervision. Known for integrating digital tools in legal education, co-organizing workshops on podcast use in teaching.

Awards: Recipient of 2024 SLS funding for teaching innovation, 2023 Best Article Prize, and multiple research grants. Recognized as a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy.

Labs/Teams: Co-convener of ESIL's Peace & Security Interest Group, member of British Branch of International Law Association, and editorial board member of Journal of Economics, Law and Policy.
