Sadia Saeed is an Associate Professor and Program Director for the Minor in Peace and Justice Studies at the University of San Francisco. She holds full-time faculty status with research expertise in historical sociology focused on religion, politics, and global inequalities.
Her research examines the intersections of religion and politics, sociology of Islam, decolonization processes, imperial formations, and South Asian societies. She investigates how religious minorities are positioned within state formations across historical periods.
Publications demonstrate sustained focus on Islamic societies, colonial transitions, and rights frameworks. Her 2017 book received the American Institute of Pakistan Studies Book Prize. Current projects include comparative studies of religious minorities across Indo-Persian societies and decolonization struggles at the United Nations.
