Dr. Sadek Showkat is an Assistant Professor of Management at Loyola University Chicago's Quinlan School of Business. His research focuses on alleviating suffering among marginalized entrepreneurs in extreme poverty and refugee contexts, emphasizing psychological well-being and resourcefulness. He holds a PhD in Entrepreneurship from the University of Louisville, an MBA in Human Resources from the University of Dhaka, and a BSc in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from Bangladesh University of Engineering & Technology.
Dr. Showkat has extensive industry experience in Bangladesh, India, and China, including leadership roles in top management and entrepreneurship. He teaches Introduction to Entrepreneurship and Managing People & Organizations, integrating experiential learning approaches. His work in Rohingya refugee camps has been featured at top conferences like the Academy of Management Annual Meeting (AOM) and Babson College’s BCERC.
He serves as an Ambassador for the Entrepreneurship Division of the Academy of Management and has received multiple awards including the Student Champion Award (2021, 2024) and the Best Dissertation Proposal Award (2023). His research emphasizes ethical entrepreneurship, community resilience, and sustainable livelihood strategies in crisis environments.
