Sadeep Shrestha is a Professor of Epidemiology at the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) School of Public Health. He holds additional appointments in the UAB School of Medicine, including roles in Infectious Diseases, Genetic & Translational Medicine, and multiple research centers such as the O'Neal Comprehensive Cancer Center and the Center for AIDS Research. He obtained his Ph.D. in Public Health from Johns Hopkins University in 2005 and has been affiliated with UAB since 2005, advancing from Assistant to Associate Professor before becoming a full Professor in 2020.
His research focuses on genetic epidemiology, infectious diseases, HPV-associated cancers, HIV/AIDS, and Kawasaki Disease, with a strong emphasis on public health implications and clinical outcomes. He leads numerous grants, including studies on HPV screening in Nepal, cardiovascular risks in cancer patients, and pharmacogenomics of Kawasaki Disease treatment. Shrestha has collaborated extensively on projects addressing health disparities, such as racial and geographic variations in cervical cancer outcomes and cardiovascular risk factors among head and neck cancer patients.
Shrestha’s work integrates epidemiological methods with genomic and electronic medical record data, aiming to improve disease prevention and treatment strategies. His contributions span global health initiatives, including studies on cervical cancer screening in Nepal and HPV awareness among healthcare professionals. He has over 140 scholarly publications, reflecting his expertise in molecular epidemiology, clinical outcomes analysis, and public health policy.
