Sadaf Jaffer is Research Fellow at Princeton University's M.S. Chadha Center for Global India and Princeton Institute for International and Regional Studies (PIIRS). Her scholarship bridges Islamic, South Asian, and gender studies with focus on Urdu literature and Muslim progressivism.
Research examines secularism and sexuality in Indian Muslim thought through analysis of writer Ismat Chughtai's works. Additional interests include feminist intellectual history, Muslim women's narratives, and contemporary Islamic social justice movements. Publications analyze intersections of religion, gender, and postcolonial identity.
