About
Sabrina Taylor is Weaver Brothers Distinguished Professor at Louisiana State University's School of Renewable Natural Resources. Her research program examines genetic variation patterns in threatened species, integrating genomic tools with conservation management. Key species studied include New Zealand fernbirds, barred owls, coastal sparrows, and North American canids.
Dr. Taylor teaches conservation genetics and behavioral ecology courses while directing an active research laboratory. Current projects investigate: climate resilience in avian populations; historical genetic analysis using museum specimens; urban wildlife adaptation; and genetic factors in disease susceptibility. She mentors numerous graduate students researching population structure in endangered species.
The Taylor Lab employs genomic approaches to address conservation challenges including habitat fragmentation impacts, wildlife disease dynamics, and anthropogenic disturbance effects.
