Sabine Zikeli

Dr. Sabine Zikeli serves as Head of the Center for Organic Farming at the University of Hohenheim since January 2018, where she leads research and educational initiatives in sustainable agricultural practices. Previously, she worked as Coordinator for Organic Farming and Consumer Protection at the same institution from November 2004 to December 2017.

Her academic journey includes advanced studies in agricultural sciences at Martin Luther University, Halle-Wittenberg and Technical University of Munich, complemented by extensive practical experience through internships on organic farms across Norway, Italy, Switzerland, and Germany. Her research background encompasses soil science and plant nutrition projects focused on organic matter stabilization and soil-forming processes.

Dr. Zikeli teaches multiple courses across bachelor's and master's programs, covering fundamentals of organic farming, crop production, animal husbandry, and specialized topics including organic farming in tropical regions and food systems. Her teaching directly connects academic theory with practical applications in the field.

She actively participates in numerous research projects including AlbLavendel, CiLaKlima, LinSel, and TERROIR, addressing critical aspects of organic farming systems, environmental services, and sustainable food production.

As a key figure in the organic farming research community, Dr. Zikeli contributes to major conferences including the Medicinal Plant Conference and Winter Conference on Organic Farming in Baden-Württemberg, helping shape policy and practice in sustainable agriculture.
