Sabine Laschat

Prof. Sabine Laschat leads the Organic Chemistry research group at the University of Stuttgart's Faculty of Chemistry. Her laboratory focuses on developing innovative materials inspired by biological systems, with particular expertise in liquid crystal engineering and catalytic processes. Current projects include bio-inspired material development using chitin derivatives for specialized construction applications. Dr. Laschat serves as Head of the Examination Committee for the Food Chemistry B.Sc. program, overseeing academic standards and curriculum development.

Her interdisciplinary research bridges chemistry and materials engineering, with recent investigations into insect exoskeleton-inspired biomaterials for construction applications. The Laschat Research Group collaborates with industrial partners to translate fundamental discoveries into practical solutions for material science challenges.
