Sabine Cadeau is an Associate Professor at McGill University specializing in modern Latin American and Caribbean history. Her award-winning research examines racial violence, citizenship, and slavery legacies.
Cadeau's monograph More Than a Massacre: Racial Violence and Citizenship in the Haitian-Dominican Borderlands reevaluates the 1937 genocide, winning the LASA Bryce Wood Award and Raphael Lemkin Book Award. She contributes to Cambridge University's Legacies of Enslavement Inquiry.
Current projects investigate financial capitalism's connections to Atlantic slavery and oral histories of massacre survivors.
