Dr. SUN Jian is an Assistant Professor of Finance at the Lee Kong Chian School of Business, Singapore Management University, with a courtesy appointment in the School of Economics. He holds a Ph.D. in Finance from MIT Sloan School of Management (2022), an M.S. in Economic Theory and Econometrics from Toulouse School of Economics (2016), and a B.S. in Economics and Mathematics from Tsinghua University (2014). His research focuses on technological innovation in finance, corporate finance theory, information economics, and market microstructure. He has published in top journals like the Journal of Finance and Review of Financial Studies.
Dr. Sun's research explores how technological advancements impact financial markets, including algorithmic transparency, liquidity provision mechanisms, and regulatory frameworks for carbon markets. He has received prestigious awards such as the WRDS-TME Best Paper Prize (2023) and MIT Sloan PhD Fellowship (2016-2022). His work bridges theoretical models with practical market dynamics, addressing issues like SPACs' delegated investment structures and cryptocurrency financialization.
In teaching, he instructs courses like Finance (FNCE 101) and Research Topics in Finance (FNCE 708). His research has been supported by the Ministry of Education (MOE) Tier 1 Academic Research Fund (2022-2023).
