Assoc. Prof. Dr. Seray Kabaran is an Associate Professor in the Department of Nutrition and Dietetics at Eastern Mediterranean University's School of Health Services. She holds a PhD from Hacettepe University (2015), an MS from Hacettepe University's Institute of Health Sciences (2011), and a BS from Başkent University's Faculty of Health Sciences (2008).
Her research focuses on childhood obesity etiology, maternal nutrition's epigenetic effects, dietary patterns (especially Mediterranean diet), and nutritional interventions for metabolic disorders. She has supervised multiple PhD and MSc theses on topics like childhood eating behaviors, probiotic supplementation effects, and dietary inflammation indices.
Key achievements include EMU Research Incentive Awards (2021, 2020) and EMU Publication Citation Award (2021). Her work spans over 50 peer-reviewed articles in journals like BMC Public Health and Frontiers in Genetics. She also contributed chapters to clinical pediatrics dietetics textbooks.
Current projects include studying early childhood eating habits and anthropometric standards for North Cypriot adolescents. She leads the Nutrition and Diet Polyclinic Laboratory and collaborates on initiatives like the Healthy Life Practice and Research Center (EMU-SAYMER).
