Ryann Cooley

Ryann Cooley is a Professor of Digital Media and Photography at Houghton University, where she has taught since 2013 (initially as Associate Professor until 2022). She holds an MFA from the School of Visual Arts and a B.A. from Brooks Institute of Photography. Her professional background includes owning Cooley Studio (1995–2014), specializing in commercial still-life photography for clients like American Express, Nikon, and Penguin Books, and extensive travel/documentary work across 47 countries.

Her research explores the intersections of digital media, still life/documentary photography, and visual storytelling, with teaching spanning darkroom processes, professional practices, and travel photography. Her publications and exhibitions reflect a focus on contemporary visual culture and commercial-art dialogues.
