Ryan Zarychanski

Ryan Zarychanski is a Professor at the Max Rady College of Medicine, University of Manitoba, and holds the Lyonel G. Israels Research Chair in Hematology. He is a hematologist, critical care physician, and clinician-scientist affiliated with CancerCare Manitoba and the Rady Faculty of Health Sciences. Cross-appointments include Community Health Sciences and the College of Pharmacy.

Education: MD (University of Ottawa, 2000), MSc (University of Ottawa, 2010), and fellowships in Hematology, Critical Care, and Internal Medicine at the University of Manitoba.

Research focuses on hematologic aspects of critical illness, including anticoagulation in sepsis/COVID-19, transfusion medicine, and adaptive platform trials. He chairs the TEACH Research Collaborative and contributes to the Canadian Critical Care Trials Group and Centre for Transfusion Research.

Awards include the 2023 Physician of the Year, 2019 Royal College Mentorship Award, and multiple research accolades from CancerCare Manitoba. Active in national initiatives like the CIHR-funded acute care platform trial.

Advancing personalized medicine through multiplatform trial designs and global collaborations. Currently accepts Master's and PhD students in critical care and hematology research.
