Ryan McFadden

Dr. Ryan McFadden is a Lecturer in Mechanical Engineering at Ulster University's School of Engineering. Formerly an Engineering Subject Teacher at INTO Queen's University Belfast (2021–2024), he bridges materials science, microbiology, and laser engineering to develop antibacterial surfaces for medical implants.

His research focuses on antibacterial surface engineering using laser texturing, additive manufacturing of implants, and biofilm analysis. Key techniques include SEM/XPS/ToF-SIMS and Python/MATLAB image processing.
