Ryan M. Calder is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Sociology at Johns Hopkins University. His research focuses on the moral and cultural dimensions of transnational markets, globalization, consumption patterns, financial systems, and the intersection of religion (particularly Islam) with economic practices. He holds a PhD in Sociology from the University of California, Berkeley. Professor Calder’s work examines evolving economic logics, corporate structures, and how capitalism interacts with morality, religion, and identity formation. His current projects include studies on loyalty rewards programs and their sociocultural implications.
