Ryan Ginder is a Research Assistant Professor in the Department of Aerospace, Mechanical and Biomedical Engineering at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, serving since 2019. Previously, he was a Postdoctoral Research Associate (2017–2019) jointly affiliated with UT Knoxville and Oak Ridge National Laboratory's Carbon and Composites Group.
He holds a PhD in Materials Science and Engineering from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville (2016) and a BSc in the same field from Northwestern University (2011).
His research spans:
- Mechanics of materials and composite degradation
- Sustainable recycling of glass/carbon fiber composites
- Energy material behavior (e.g., solid-acid fuel cells)
- Advanced characterization via nanoindentation and pyrolysis
