Ryan Carrick

Ryan Carrick is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Occupational Therapy at Augusta University’s College of Allied Health Sciences. His teaching philosophy emphasizes grace, passion, and practical application. He holds a Ph.D. in Adult and Continuing Education and Teaching from Auburn University (2020) and an MHS in Occupational Therapy from Medical College of Georgia (2008).

His research focuses on aging populations, including dementia rehabilitation, home safety interventions, and orthopedic therapies. Recent publications examine exercise impacts on gait in dementia patients (2024), systematic reviews of home safety strategies (2024), and aging-in-place methodologies (2023).

Key awards include Augusta University’s Provost Learning Community appointment (2023), AOTA mentorships (2022), and Encompass Health’s Preceptor of the Year (2019). He serves on multiple university and departmental committees and chairs the Rwanda Study Abroad program.
