Ruth and Mark Phillips are Professors Emeritus at Carleton University's Institute for Comparative Studies in Literature, Art, and Culture (ICSLAC). Ruth Phillips is a renowned art historian specializing in critical museology and Indigenous North American arts. She held the Canada Research Chair in Modern Culture and served as Director of the Museum of Anthropology at UBC. Mark Phillips was an historian of ideas, cross-appointed in History and ICSLAC, with expertise in historical representation. His work On Historical Distance won the Ferguson Prize.
