Ruth Smith is a Senior Lecturer in Adult Nursing at the University of Northampton's Faculty of Health, Education and Society. She serves as Deputy Subject Leader in Nursing, focusing on student experience and apprenticeships. With clinical experience in acute medicine, urology, and intensive care across England and Scotland, she brings practical expertise to her teaching of undergraduate nursing and nursing associate programmes.
Her research centers on nursing education methodologies, particularly simulation-based teaching and evidence-based clinical care. She is currently pursuing a professional doctorate investigating nursing associate apprentices' non-supernumerary work-based learning experiences. Ruth holds a BSc(Hons) in Adult Nursing, an MSc in Higher Professional Education, and is an NMC Registered Teacher.
