Ruth Neubauer serves as Assistant Professor for Human-Centered Design in the Faculty of Technology & Business. An internationally experienced designer in human-centered innovation, she has over ten years of experience designing digital products and services for applications including smart meters, audio-video streaming, social media data aggregation, and search technologies.
Her educational background includes:
- Artistic diploma in "Painting and Graphics" from the Academy of Fine Arts in Vienna (2002), exploring the visual experience of reality through digital imagery.
- Ph.D. from Loughborough University London (2019), investigating the application of design as a tool for innovation.
Her research centers on design innovation, applied design theory, and sociomateriality in design practices. She investigates design as an intervention in socio-technical contexts and focuses on teaching design capabilities. Methodologically, she utilizes ethnographic studies, generative design methods, and actor network theory to improve the communication and application of design in innovation.
