Dr Ruth Jackson Ravenscroft is a Research Fellow and Director of Studies at the University of Cambridge's Faculty of Divinity. She holds academic roles at Sidney Sussex College (Fellow and Tutor), Corpus Christi College (Director of Studies), and Lucy Cavendish College (Director of Studies and Bye-Fellow). Her research focuses on theology, philosophy of religion, gender studies, and Friedrich Schleiermacher's theological contributions. With a PhD from Corpus Christi College (2016), she specializes in modern theology, hermeneutics, and the intersection of gender with religious epistemology.
Her academic journey includes a 1st Class MA from Sidney Sussex College (2009) and an MPhil with Distinction from Fitzwilliam College (2010). She is an acclaimed author, including The Veiled God: Friedrich Schleiermacher’s Theology of Finitude, and serves as a key figure in theological education and interfaith dialogue through her college roles and affiliations with the Cambridge Interfaith Programme.
Ravenscroft's work integrates historical theology with contemporary issues, exploring topics like anonymity in Schleiermacher's writings, gender theory in religious contexts, and the theological implications of modernity. Her research bridges philosophical, literary, and historical approaches to religious thought, making significant contributions to modern Christian theology and interdisciplinary studies.
