Dr. Ruth Hudson is an experienced higher education curriculum developer, leader, multi-disciplinary researcher, learning and teaching specialist, and project lead for Carbon Literacy at Salford Business School, University of Salford. She has developed higher education programs internationally, including global student exchanges, and has led digital transformation teaching and learning projects focused on active learning for student engagement and graduate outcomes.

Dr. Hudson's research examines early childhood education, parental engagement in schools, and the aspirations of children in low-socioeconomic areas. Her international research includes work on education training programs in kindergarten and primary schools through an Erasmus+ project. She has also evaluated early years curriculum and investigated the aspirations of school-aged children through the Local Authority Future Selves project. Her doctoral thesis explored the lived experiences of parents and educators of children up to 7 years old who had lost a parent, leading to her involvement in social justice measures to prevent educational disengagement for children at risk of school exclusion.
Her recent publications (2021-2025) demonstrate consistent scholarly output focused on early years education, reflective practice, parental engagement, and children's aspirations. These works show her interdisciplinary approach connecting education, psychology, and social justice.
Dr. Hudson teaches cross-cultural leadership, mentoring and coaching, and professional development modules across business and education subject areas. She supervises doctoral candidates on PhD/EdD and DBA programmes and has developed higher education curricula internationally. Her expertise includes leading digital transformation projects in teaching and learning to enhance student engagement and outcomes.
Dr. Hudson has been involved in significant research projects including the Carbon Literacy initiative at Salford Business School and the DIGI-S.PA.C.E Erasmus+ project. She has also contributed to evaluations of early years curriculum and the Local Authority Future Selves project examining children's aspirations.
