Professor Ruth Heholt is an internationally renowned scholar at Falmouth University specializing in Gothic, supernatural, Victorian, and crime fiction studies. She holds a PhD from the University of Plymouth (2004) and a BA (Hons) in English from the University of Reading (1997).
Her research explores supernatural phenomena, masculinity, and Victorian/contemporary cultural intersections. She has authored Catherine Crowe: Gender, Genre, and Radical Politics (2020) and co-authored Gothic Kernow: Cornwall as Strange Fiction (2022).
Professor Heholt serves as editor of Revenant: Critical and Creative Studies of the Supernatural and co-edits book series for Edinburgh University Press. A Fellow of the Higher Education Academy, she has organized international conferences including 'Haunted Landscapes' (2023) and teaches courses in crime fiction, gender studies, and Victorian literature.
