Dr Ruth Deyermond is a Senior Lecturer in Post-Soviet Security at King’s College London’s Department of War Studies, part of the Faculty of Social Science & Public Policy. She serves as Programme Director for the MA in International Relations, chairs the War Studies Undergraduate Assessment Sub-Board, and co-convenes the Russian and Eurasian Security Research Group. Her research focuses on Russian foreign policy, US-Russia relations, and post-Soviet geopolitics.
Education: PhD and MA in Government (University of Essex), MA in English and European Renaissance Drama (University of Warwick), BA in English Language and Literature (University of Oxford).
Teaching includes modules on War and International Relations, Theories of International Relations, and Russia and the World. Her research explores regime contestation in post-Soviet states and the evolution of US-Russia diplomacy since the Cold War. She has published extensively on topics such as the 'Reset' policy under Obama and post-Soviet security challenges.
Advising: Currently supervising five PhD students focusing on Russian security strategy, Cold War legacies, and Eurasian geopolitics. Not accepting new PhD applications.
