Baroness Ruth Deech, DBE KC(Hon) is a Crossbench Peer and academic lawyer affiliated with St Anne's College, Oxford. As former Principal of St Anne's (1991-2004) and Tutor in Law, she specialized in Family and Property Law. She chaired the UK Human Fertilisation and Embryology Authority (1994-2002), regulating reproductive medicine and infertility research.
Key contributions include authoring Women Doctors: Making a Difference (DH, 2009) and chairing the Bar Standards Board (2009-14). She served as BBC Governor (2002-6), Rhodes Trustee (1996-2006), and currently chairs the House of Lords Appointment Commission.
