Senior Fellow at the Munk School of Global Affairs & Public Policy and Senior Associate at the Centre for the Study of Global Japan. With a 38-year career in the U.S. Department of State, Mr. Deming specializes in Japanese and East Asian affairs, having held high-ranking diplomatic roles, including U.S. Ambassador to Tunisia and Director of the Office of Japanese Affairs. He later taught at the School for Advanced International Studies (SAIS), Johns Hopkins University, for over a decade.
