Russell Smelley

Russell Smelley is a Professor of Kinesiology at Westmont College, where he has taught since 1979. He combines academic roles with coaching, serving as head coach for men’s and women’s cross country and track and field teams. His expertise spans fitness, health, and sports coaching, with a focus on integrating educational and athletic excellence.

Education: M.Ed. from the University of Richmond. Awards include the NAIA Coach of Character Award (2015), NAIA Hall of Fame induction (1999), and two Social Sciences Teacher of the Year accolades.
