Russell Knight

Russell Knight is a Lecturer of Music at Scripps College, specializing in music theory, 20th-century music, and queer theory applications in music. He holds a Ph.D., M.A., and B.A. in Music from the University of California, Santa Barbara, with additional study at Yale University’s Summer Abroad program in Salzburg, Austria.

His research focuses on post-tonal analysis, analytic methodologies, and intersections between queer theory and music history. Notable publications include studies on Schoenberg’s *Erwartung*, Schubert’s lieder, and co-editing a music analysis anthology. He teaches courses like Music Theory, Literature and Analysis of Music Since 1900, and Humanities Core modules exploring queer history through music and California cultural studies.
